School Issues Mediation

Peer mediation is a form of conflict resolution that trains students to help their peers work together to resolve everyday disputes in the school setting. Student mediators do not make judgments or offer advice and have no power to force decisions on their peers. Studies show that 85% of mediated school conflicts result in lasting resolutions. MCMC can design a peer mediation program specially tailored to meet the needs of each school.

MCMC has trained students in middle and high schools in peer mediation in schools, including East Norriton Middle School and Hatboro Horsham High School. We also have conflict resolution training available for staff and administrators. We offer specific training for resident advisors in college and university settings where close living quarters can require the intervention of a person trained in dispute resolution.

CRE (Conflict Resolution Education)

CRE is a form of peer mediation that focuses on student development in learning conflict management responses that are positive and long lasting. Learning conflict resolution skills provides an opportunity for students to discover how to identify and respond to their own emotions, understand the perspective of others, make responsible decisions and effectively manage interpersonal situations.  We also offer conflict resolution training for teachers, administrators and staff personnel that includes such topics as the dynamics of conflict interactions, self managed conflict responses and how to respond as a third party intervener for others in conflict.

In college and other institutions of higher learning students still need coping skills to handle conflict with others. Students often have trouble understanding their own emotions and those of others, and can benefit from learning how to handle conflict in a positive way. MCMC offers conflict resolution training for student resident advisors, staff and administrators where close quarter living can require the intervention of a person trained in managing interpersonal relationships.
